The Captain America The Avengers statue was released by Diamond Select Toys in 2007, with an edition size of 1000 samples, and represents a tribute to the immense talent of Jack "The King" Kirby, the artist who may be considered (with Stan Lee, of course) the true father of Marvel Comics. The piece, in fact, is a faithful reproduction of the American super soldier as he appears in one of the most iconic and famous Covers of all times: the number 4 of the series devoted to the Avengers (published on March 1964), where Steve Rogers was found by the team, after he spent decades frozen in a block of ice, in a state of suspended animation, in the North Atlantic Ocean. This number marked the re-birth of the character, after the Golden Age and the many Comics published during the II World War, and his official integration in the Marvel Universe of superheroes. The hero is depicted in a dynamic pose, running forward with the shield hooked on the left arm facing down, the right arm stretched backward and a very bent right leg supporting the body's weight. The colors are bright: the scaled, upper part of the suit (sculpted in a masterful way) is characterized by a captivating iridescent tone, while the boots and gloves show a rather dark red tonality; the vertical red and white strips on abdomen are quite thin and very faithful to the original cover. Note the many dark shades pointing out the muscle contours on legs, the top-quality sculpt of suit's folds, for example on boots, neck or abdomen and the excellent concave shape of the circular shield. The face is very well done and even more expressive compared to the Kirby artwork: both the nose and, above all, the open mouth with the upper teeth, exhibit a perfect Comics-style, while the mask is characterized by the typical "A" centered on the forehead and two original, sticking out, white winglets, which really remind many of the original tables of the Silver Age. Among the tons of statues devoted to the character, this piece stands out for its originality and evocative style: a little gem that can not be missed by the real fan of Captain America.
